We are looking for a Head of Data Protection & Information Security to drive and lead our technical work on privacy, security and regulatory compliance initiatives. You will work embedded with our product teams but also cross-functionally with legal, IT, and company leadership, to ensure Unobravo meets industry standards and regulatory requirements (including GDPR and other European regulations). You will also be part of setting the strategic priorities for compliance, privacy and security across the company and will lead a small team of experts in this area.
💻 AS HEAD OF DATA PROTECTION & INFORMATION SECURITY YOUR ROLE WILL INCLUDE:
- Privacy and Security Technical Leadership: Defining and implementing security and privacy best practices across Unobravo’s products and infrastructure.
- Compliance Management: Working as part of Unobravo’s product development teams to ensure our systems remain in continual compliance with GDPR and other relevant regulations and industry standards. Enabling the implementation of Privacy by Design and Privacy by Default approaches within product development processes, balancing the need to move fast against potential risks.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Working closely with legal, IT, and product teams to integrate security and privacy considerations into business decisions.
- Risk Assessment & Mitigation: Identifying and managing privacy and security risks, working proactively to mitigate potential threats. Lead the technical execution of Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) and Risk Assessments for new solutions, projects, and products.
- Being responsible for activities related to data mapping, data lifecycle management, definition and enforcement of data retention policies, data minimization, pseudonymization, consent management, and data traceability within systems.
- Ensuring the selection and adoption of appropriate technical measures, such as encryption systems, access logging and control, identity management.
- Internal Policies & Training: Developing internal security policies, conducting employee training, and building a culture of security and privacy awareness with a practical and risk-based approach.
- Audit & Incident Response: Leading security audits, monitoring compliance efforts, and managing incident response and reporting.
- Stakeholder Communication: Representing security goals and priorities to leadership, advocating for security initiatives and investment.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and international best practices, proactively proposing updates to company policies and technical standards.
⚙️ YOU WILL BE THE PERFECT FIT IF YOU HAVE:
- 5+ years of experience in security, privacy and compliance roles, including experience in a startup or scaleup environment.
- Strong understanding of European regulations, including GDPR, and technical implications.
- Experience with security frameworks and best practices (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Fluent in Italian and English.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex security concepts for different stakeholders.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic initiatives with day-to-day business needs.
